The February 2020 monthly meeting featured a fascinating presentation by Kristin Woodward.  Kristin uses quick drying alcohol inks on non-porous tiles. The ink is manipulated with brushes, air spray, and even a torch to create unique designs
At the first meeting of 2020 Sandy Onderdonk of the Four Corners Frame Shop provided a very informative presentation on design and framing.  Sandy gave us many ideas on how to enhance an image with framing and matting.
At the December Holiday Meeting it is a BAA tradition to select one of our member artists to do the presentation.  The 2019 honoree was Jacqueline Smith.  Here's Jacqueline at work creating a lovely pastel landscape painting.  Jacqueline also described many of the items she uses in her painting.
November is the time for the Annual Fall Member Show at the Bethlehem Public Library.  The show ran through the end of November.

The Bethlehem Art Association held a Member Art Exhibit and Sale at the Bethlehem Reformed Church in Delmar on November 9, 2019.  BAA member Michael Joyce created a wonderful photo gallery of the event that can be seen by hitting the button:
Dorothea Osborn provided us with a mixed media acrylic demonstration at the October 2019 monthly meeting.  Dorothea also conducted the Fall Workshop on November 16 at the Delmar Presbyterian Church.  Meeting attendees had the opportunity to get a preview of the workshop.  At the workshop Dorothea continued to develop the painting she started at the monthly meeting and demonstrated a variety of techniques and materials that can be used to create exciting and interesting abstract paintings.
Melody Davis kicked off the new year with an excellent presentation on Modernism in Art at the September meeting. Melody is an associate professor and the program Coordinator for Art History at the Sage College in Albany, and has authored several books. She gave a very informative and entertaining summary of the modernist movement. Explaining how various artists used color and shape to break from the traditions of the past. 
The Annual BAA Picnic this year was held at the beautiful home of Hillary Raimo in Altamont.  Many thanks to Hillary for hosting us. This event closes our year and we resume meeting in September.
May is the month for the Annual Spring Juried Show. 
Close to 60 pieces were on display.  The show judge, Belinda Colon, shown here with Bob Lynk's Best in Show painting, is the current curator at the Arts Center of the Capital Region.  
BAA Scholarships are awarded each year to Bethlehem High School seniors.  Here is Zephan Conway recieving his award from Hillary Raimo at the May 2019 meeting.
April 2019 
BAA president, Hillary Raimo, had a personal tour with the President of the Salmagundi Club of the American Watercolor Society's 152nd Annual Exhibition. 
The BAA Spring Workshop was held in April 2019.  Jim Coe gave an oil painting demonstration and provided individual assistance to the workshop participants.  Jim also does weekly plain air workshops. Check the Artist's Opportunities section for more information.
April 2019 Monthly Meeting
Eden Compton provided a comprehensive session on pastel painting.  She discussed materials, and demonstrated how to develop a painting beginning with thumbnail sketches and underpaintings.
March 2019 Meeting
Jim Coe gave an outstanding oil painting demonstraton. He began with how to transfer an image to the canvas using grids. He then showed how a painting is developed though a process of layering. Jim also conducted the BAA Spring Workshop on April 27.
The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce hosts a perpetual exhibit of work by Bethlehem Art Association members. The exhibit is rotated every three months.
