The 2022 BAA Art Show and Sale
It was great to be back!

After a hiatus of several years, and by popular demand, our traditional "One Day Art Sale" took place on May 21 at the Delmar Reformed Church. It was an opportunity to see, discuss and have the opportunity to purchase the wonderful art our members have been working on. In addition to many long time members, several newer members shared their works at the Show.
If you were unable to attend, or would just enjoy revisiting the show, we've posted a montage of "Scenes from the Show".
April Monthly Meeting ~ Francis Driscoll, the photographer of the Northern Catskills, shared how he achieves such wonderful compositions during his presentation. Francis is an award-winning nature photographer who focuses on Catskill Mountain scenes. His work can be found in many corporate collections and has appeared in many publications, including the National Geographic Explorer and the art book “100 New York Photographers”. His own book is “Images of the Northern Catskills”.

March Monthly Meeting and 2022 Spring Workshop Kristin Woodward was the presenter at the March Meeting and will also conduct the Spring Workshop on Saturday, April 9 at the Delmar Presbyterian Church from 9 to 4. The subject of both events is Master Disasters - saving a watercolor. Kris demonstrates techniques that can be used to recover a painting that has gone wrong. Many of these techniques can also be used on mediums other than watercolor. We will work on spaces, color schemes, washes, design strategies, focal points, and evaluation. At the workshop you can bring paintings that need remedial help and they can be worked on.

Annual Critique at the February 2022 Monthly Meeting. We finally got back to live meetings at the Bethlehem Library to have the Annual Critique conducted by Gary Shankman. Gary has been with us at a number of BAA events in the past and his presentations are always informative and entertaining. This event is scheduled prior to the annual spring show so that artists have the option of submitting a work in progress and incorporating suggestions for the show.

The January 2022 Monthly BAA Meeting was a Zoom presentaton by Marc Osloff. Marc uses a "line and blob" method for his paintings and travel journals. This typically involves pen outlines and rich splashes of color. Marc took us through a collection of his paintings to illustrate how his style was developed. The highlight of the evening was the creation of the painting shown to the right.

The December Holiday Meeting featured a presentation by a BAA member artist. Kris Kelly was this year's presenter on Zoom. She gave a wonderful presentation on how her abstract art is based on asemic writing, marks that have no meaning that resemble calligraphic marks. Kris keeps a notebook of doodles that include lines and shapes varying in quality and medium. Her paintings include many layers and don't necessarily have a traditional focal point.

Fall 2021 Annual Workshop. Kevin Kuhne was the presenter at the Annual Fall Workshop in November. This was a watercolor workshop but was open to artists working in any medium. Kevin is a well known local artist who specializes in watercolor urban landscapes. He frequently teaches classes in this area and his work has won many awards. Kevin Kuhne presented a watercolor demonstration at the October 19 Monthly Meeting at the Bethlehem Public Library.
